Presenter Proposal Guidelines

Our events focus on job-related, employer-sponsored training and education in the working world -- including business, industry, government, and service organizations.

Our events provide specifics -- "how-tos" rather than abstract concepts or untested theories. Our conference participants want to know how to motivate employees at all levels of their companies and how to diagnose and solve performance problems of all kinds. In other words, though these are training conferences, they aren't strictly about training. They're about human performance -- and all the factors that affect it.

Selection Criteria
Successful sessions are designed with attendees' needs in mind. Every session must ultimately answer the question for an attendee: How will this help me add value to my organization?
  • Our program managers consider many factors when selecting presenters for our conferences, including program theme and content, audience composition, event format, other presenters (both confirmed and invited), overall balance, new and repeated sessions and similar sessions. We also consider the impact any presenter may have on drawing attendees to the event, as well as past audience reaction, if applicable.
  • Our program managers also look for a clear description of your session on the submittal form, evidence of your experience/expertise in relation to the proposed session topic, and evidence of your past speaking/presenting experience.
  • The absence of a sales pitch for products or services is extremely important: We will not consider proposals that include sales pitches. We will not invite back presenters who pitch their products and/or services in their sessions.
  • Case study session proposals are encouraged. Note: case studies should be presented by in-house learning professionals and must not be product-specific.
  • A speaker's appearance at one of our events is unrelated to past, current or future coverage in our magazine.
  • An organization's exhibiting at and/or sponsoring of one of our events is unrelated to past, current or future selection as a presenter at our events.

If Selected as a Presenter ...

  • You will be contacted if we are able to use your proposed session in a conference program. Please understand that we receive hundreds of proposals every year and are unable to respond to questions regarding the status of a given session proposal.
  • You will be promoted in conference brochures, on the conference Web site and in the Show Guide, which is distributed to all participants, exhibitors and media attendees.
  • You will receive a badge that admits you to all full-conference sessions (not including additional-charge events such as workshops, dinners, etc.) and the exhibit hall.
  • You will be responsible for submitting your session handouts/materials (generally online).
  • Presenter substitutions are subject to approval. In the event that a presenter cannot fulfill his or her commitment, the presenting company will not be guaranteed a speaking slot for a substituted presenter.
  • We reserve the right to cancel sessions, as is deemed necessary, at any point from the time the invitation is made until the actual event.
